The Seasons of Whitehall

Spring

Our local greenhouses come alive with color—overflowing with hanging baskets, garden starters, and blooms that make you want to dig your hands in the dirt. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just love to browse, it's a treat for the senses. And while you're out and about, take the long way home—our scenic drives wind through rolling hills and countryside that seem to stretch endlessly in green. The greenhouses are the destination, but the views? They're the unforgettable bonus.

Summer

Summer is when our communities come alive with music, markets, and moments worth traveling for. Start your week with Monday night music in Osseo, then head to Whitehall's historic bandstand for live performances every Third Thursday. Garden markets overflow with fresh produce and handmade goods, offering a true taste of local life. If you're here in August, don’t miss Ashley for the Arts—a weekend festival that draws visitors from near and far. And for a slower pace, many of our local wineries host live music throughout the season—perfect for an evening glass under the stars. Summer here isn’t just a time of year—it’s an experience.

Fall

Fall is when the countryside puts on a show. The rolling hills turn gold and crimson, and every backroad becomes a scenic route worth exploring. It’s the perfect season for a slow drive with the windows down and a stop (or three) at local farm stands and orchards. Don’t miss Beef and Dairy Days in Whitehall—held every third weekend in August—a small-town tradition that rolls right into the harvest season. And if you love a good treasure hunt, the Amish greenhouses and farm shops in the area are brimming with seasonal goods, mums, and handmade finds. Autumn here invites you to slow down and savor.

Winter

There’s something magical about winter in our corner of the world. The snow settles gently, and our small towns sparkle with lights and tradition. Visit during the Festival of Trees—held the first Friday night in December—to see Whitehall aglow, complete with a lighted parade, caroling, and warm cups of cocoa in mittened hands. Local shops offer cozy, curated gifts, and you’ll find hometown hospitality at every turn. It’s the season of simple joys—of gathering, of giving, and of finding beauty in the quiet. A great chance to just sit back and let the snow fill the world with peace, because the world just slows down in the winter, "even the birds wake up slow".
